Legalise Cannabis Party Fields Aimee Pearson In Farrer By-Election

The Legalise Cannabis Party has confirmed Aimee Pearson as its candidate for the upcoming Farrer By-election, putting forward a healthcare professional with real-world experience and a practical understanding of the issues facing regional communities.

Aimee Pearson is a qualified pharmacist who began her career after graduating from Charles Darwin University in 2012. She has worked in community pharmacy in Darwin as well as Tasmania, and now lives in Albury with her family.

Her interest in medicinal cannabis developed over time through both her professional work and personal experience. While living in Tasmania, her husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Medicinal cannabis became an important part of his treatment, helping him manage his condition without the use of opioids.

That experience has shaped Aimee’s perspective as both a healthcare professional and a member of a family navigating chronic illness. She sees medicinal cannabis as a legitimate treatment option that should be approached with a clear understanding of its benefits.

Now based in Albury, Aimee brings a grounded, practical approach to the campaign. She is a working professional, a mother and someone who understands the pressures facing families in regional Australia.

Her campaign has also received support on the ground, as Melbourne Party members, Xavier Menta and Marcus Ibrahim, dropped by to help distribute corflutes. These two are on a journey north to Nimbin, stopping occasionally to take the BIG JOINT out for a walk (and that is another story altogether)!

The Farrer electorate, covering a large part of south-western New South Wales, has traditionally been a safe Liberal seat. However, recent swings suggest voters are increasingly open to candidates who bring lived experience and a straightforward approach.

Aimee Pearson is positioning herself as exactly that, someone who understands responsibility and is ready to represent her community. “I’m running in the Farrer By-election because I know I’ll do a good job and I’ll look after people”, she said.

If you know anyone in the Farrer electorate, tell them to vote for Aimee on 9 May.
