A Campaign Built on Visibility, Community and Momentum in South Australia

With voting complete for the 2026 South Australian State Election, the Legalise Cannabis South Australia Party delivered a highly visible and energetic Campaign. While the final results remain uncertain in the Upper House, one thing is already clear, this Campaign marked a significant step forward in how we organise, mobilise and connect with the public.

A key factor underpinning this effort has been South Australia’s electoral funding and disclosure framework. The system provides an opportunity for emerging Parties to access public funding tied to electoral participation, allowing Campaigns like ours to operate at a scale that would otherwise be out of reach. This support has played a practical role in strengthening our ground Campaign and ensuring we can show up in a meaningful way.

One of the most noticeable outcomes of this has been our ability to bring together volunteers from across the country. Supporters travelled from Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales, joining a strong local South Australian team. The result was a unified, highly visible Campaign presence across pre-poll locations and key public areas.

Dressed in uniform hemp T-shirts, our volunteers were hard to miss. More importantly, they represented the Party with warmth, humour and authenticity. The team created a welcoming and approachable atmosphere, engaging with voters in a way that felt genuine rather than transactional. Morale was high, with volunteers clearly enjoying themselves and bringing a positive, upbeat energy to the Campaign.

Adding to this visibility was our Campaign Office, transformed into a shopfront-style space located on a busy thoroughfare leading to Adelaide Railway Station. Its position ensured a steady stream of foot traffic, giving people a tangible and accessible way to engage with the idea of a regulated cannabis market. It became both a conversation starter and a physical representation of what sensible reform could look like.

Lastly, what really stood out was the mix of people. Different backgrounds, different skill-sets, ordinary people who’d taken time out of their lives to show up and contribute in a really effective way. A big giant thank you needs to go out to Jessica Nies, Jason Meotti and all those who joined them in this Campaign, especially the volunteers and team members who flew from interstate to make it happen. Thank you.

We can’t wait to see if all this hard work will pay off, but it’s already been worth it to see everyone pulling in the same direction to achieve one goal… to legalise cannabis.
