Jessica grew up in the small country town of Kadina on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. From an early age she developed a strong sense of community and a deep understanding of how important it is to have the support and backing of locals in a tight-knit regional town.
Like many country kids, Jessica spent her youth immersed in sport – playing softball, basketball, netball and gymnastics. But it was on the sidelines that she found her true passion: umpiring, especially softball. She went on to umpire at regional and interstate competitions, including the Masters Games, and became an active member of the Kadina Softball Club committee. For over a decade she even hosted a softball-focused radio segment on local community radio.
At just 18, Jessica became the youngest ever President of the Yorke Peninsula Softball Association. She held the role for several years, working closely with the Executive Committee to modernise the association's constitution – updating outdated rules, introducing new bylaws and removing those no longer relevant.
In recognition of her ongoing commitment, Jessica was awarded Life Membership of the Kadina Softball Club at just 25 years of age – a testament to her dedication, drive and strong sense of responsibility.
Jessica is now bringing that same energy and focus to politics as a Senate candidate for South Australia with the Legalise Cannabis Party. She is committed to holding the government accountable and ensuring every piece of legislation that passes through the upper house is scrutinised with cannabis legalisation front of mind.
