Meet Our Lead Senate Candidate for WA
We’re excited to introduce Jason Meotti, a passionate advocate with over two decades of experience campaigning for cannabis law reform. Jason’s expertise in this field is unmatched. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Australian Drug Law Reform Foundation WA in 1998, serving as its foundation president until 2005.
“We led the calls for the 2001 WA Drug Summit, and I chaired the committee that developed the cannabis decriminalisation proposal”, Jason explains. “That work laid the foundation for the WA Cannabis Control Bill 2003, which decriminalised possession and cultivation of small amounts of cannabis in Western Australia – making it the second state after South Australia to do so”.
A fifth-generation Western Australian, Jason’s dedication extends far beyond policy reform. He’s deeply involved in the local community, serving on school boards and coaching the local footy team. As a long-time medicinal cannabis user managing back pain, Jason is personally and passionately committed to legalisation.
“I’ve already contributed to cannabis law reform in WA without holding a seat in parliament. Imagine what we could achieve together if I were elected as your WA Senator”, he says. Jason’s leadership and vision make him a strong voice for meaningful change, both in Western Australia and across the nation.
